Archive
-------
The archiving facility can index and load up to 30 pictures, but
bear in mind that a 30-image archive needs a megabyte of memory!
With the commands opposite 'Image' the pictures can be loaded,
saved, deleted or viewed; opposite 'Settings' the list of picture
file names and file-access paths is similarly organised (the
index has its own file format, *.ARV).
To load a picture from disk into the archive, left-click on one of
the 30 numbered archive boxes, then on Load (opposite 'Image').
To load a picture from screen, click on an archive box, click on
'von', then click on the appropriate Pic.-number in the row at the
bottom right. Now click on 'COPY' and the picture is copied into
the archive.
A picture can be accessed from the archive by selecting its
numbered box, clicking on 'To', then on a Pic.-number according to
which screen you want the picture copied onto. Now click on 'COPY',
and the image is on screen.
Note that the copy from archive is in 'Replace' mode; it over-
writes whatever was on the chosen screen.
'View' lets you see a picture from the archive without its being
copied onto one of your three working-screens.
GPL Editor
----------
The GPLs are small programs which can be run within Paintshop,
generating graphic images. Operation is straightforward: load and
run. Three routines can be held in memory at a time, load them
into the slots 1,2 & 3 at the top right of the Editor. The active
routine is the one whose slot is black. This is the one which will
run if you click on the GPL box in Menu 3.
You halt a routine (for instance when it has already drawn the
shape you want, but has not finished its run) by hitting ESCAPE.
In the error-box, click on 'ABORT' to return to the Editor. A
right-click will then return you to your picture. If a routine
ends but does not return you to the Editor, follow the same
procedure.
The GPL-generated graphic overwrites whatever was on the visible
picture-screen at the time, so don't run a GPL on top of an image
you want to keep! Be wary of using the 'Merge' instruction, it
can cause Paintshop to crash. You can alter some parameters in the
GPL routines to vary their effect, or if you are into programming,
create and run new routines.
Layout
------
This allows you to cut the picture into blocks which can then be
rearranged on the page. Left-click and draw the blocks, right-
click to call up the options box:- Rearrange, No (cancel), More
(continue). You will lose anything that is not in a block. When
satisfied with the new layout, right-click again. Overwrite (OK)
replaces the original picture with the new arrangement.
